Saturday of the sixth week of Ordinary Time

From the Gospel according to Mark 9.2 to 13.

After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John e li portò sopra un monte alto, in un luogo appartato, loro soli. While coming down the mountain, he ordered them not to tell anyone what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They kept it for themselves, questioning what it meant to rise from the dead. And they asked him: "Why say the scribes that Elijah must come first?". He answered, "Yes, Elijah will come first and restore all things, but as it is written of the Son of man? What must suffer many things and be despised. Now, I tell you, Elijah has already come, but made him what he wanted, as it is written of him. "

The eyes of faith. Glory in the flesh. And 'This is the experience of Tabor. The vision of God's love, a love that can forgive and transform. The white robes of the Lord Jesus, no one on earth could make it. A heavenly splendor, a divine work. Baptism, forgiveness and new life shining in very human flesh of the Lord. The splendor of truth, the good news that comes to us today, pilgrims between the hours of life. A voice from heaven, an invitation: Shema Israel, Hear O Israel, and thou shalt live. Listen to the Word, is already accomplished before us. The flesh of Jesus is the same as ours, the splendor of glory that appears in the transfiguration is the fate that awaits us all. Already today, although not yet fully.

Listen to the voice of Jesus, the beloved Son, is the path. The only one that bring us to our true fulfillment, the fulfillment of our life, eternity lies in the promise of our cells. Listen today to see our own flesh the transfiguration of all that belongs to us. The eyes of the centurion's faith, capable of look far, far. The eyes on the sky unfolded here on earth, the immortal life that comes to dwell within us. And all that is ephemeral, transitory, the source of anxieties and fears, becomes, by pure grace, a source of peace. All of us, even those we despise, everything except sin, taken by the Lord today and every day, everything is transfigured. Everything bears the imprint of Heaven, the country that he has prepared for us, whose first fruits we enjoy today: His love and His mercy in our lives.

The mystery of the crucifixion and the beauty of the Kingdom of God

Mount of Transfiguration is the place of mysteries, the place of the ineffable reality, the rock of hidden secrets, the summit of heaven. Here are revealed the symbols of the Kingdom of Heaven: the mystery of the crucifixion, the beauty of the Kingdom of God, the descent of Christ in his second coming in glory. On this mountain the luminous cloud covers the splendor of the righteous; future goods already come true. The cloud that surrounds the mountain prefigures the rapture of the righteous on the clouds, as of today we show our future expectations, our configuration to Christ.

Jesus had spoken to his disciples of the Kingdom of God and His second coming in glory. But perhaps it had not been for them a sufficient power of persuasion. And then the Lord, to make their faith strong and deep and that, through the present facts, arrived at the certainty of future events, wanted to show the splendor of his divinity and thus give them an image prefiguring of the kingdom of heaven. And just because the distance of those realities is not reason to be a faith more languid, preboot them saying: "There are some among the audience that will not die until they see the Son of man coming 'In the glory of his Father (Matt. 16:28). "After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John and led them up a high mountain. And he was transfigured before them "...

" How awesome is this place! This is the house of God, this is the gate of heaven "(Genesis 28:17). To it we must hurry.

contemplate and follow Christ Transfigured

Christ continually calls it new disciples, men and women to communicate to them, by the outpouring of the Spirit (cf. Rom 5, 5), the divine agape, his way of loving, and thus spur them to serve others in the humble gift of self , far from all concerned. Peter, who entranced by the light of the Transfiguration, exclaimed: "Lord, it is for us to be here" (Mt 17, 4) has turned its back on the roads call for the world to continue to serve the Kingdom of God "Come down, Peter! want to rest on the mountain, get down, preaching the Word of God, be urgent in season and importunate, rebuke, exhort, encourage using all your patience and your ability to teach. Work, very tired, also accepts suffering and torture, so that, through the brightness and beauty of good works, you may possess in charity what is symbolized in the white robes of the Lord "(D Agostino, speech 78, 6). gaze fixed on the face of the Lord is not weakening commitment to the apostolate the man on the contrary enhances it by giving it a new ability to affect history, to free her from the disfigurement.
