How Much To Fix The Porch

John Paul II, The blind Bartimaeus

PASTORAL VISIT TO COLLEVALENZA, Orvieto and Todi

ADDRESS OF JOHN PAUL II TO THE DIOCESE OF
TODI

Todi Piazza del Popolo, 22 November 1981

I Like hours to leave even a thought that serves as a reminder and as a subject. What is more impressive than today, in modern society in which we live, is perhaps the loss in many of the true meaning of life. In a vast field of modern society has sometimes been obscured or lost the transcendent meaning of life. And, not knowing why more? and for whom we live, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the force of passion, selfishness, cruelty, anarchy of the senses, the destruction of drugs, despair.
We must turn our gaze to Christ: He alone is the light that shines in the darkness, He is The true light that enlightens every man "(Jn 1,5.9).

Jesus is the Incarnate Word, the Revealer and Redeemer, who announces with absolute and final word, why? divine the true meaning of life, a precious gift given by God, who is the mysterious and merciful love, which we must accept and bear fruit, in use and the prospect of eternal happiness. "I am the light of the world - Jesus said - he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (Jn 8:12). It is this light that the basic and essential living needs for men, always, but especially today. As the blind man of Jericho, mentioned in the Gospel, modern man must turn to Jesus, with total confidence. "What do you want me to do for you?" - Asked the Divine Master, the blind man replied: "Sir, I can see again." And Jesus healed him, saying, "Receive your sight! Your faith has saved you "(cf. Lk 18:35-43).

Only Christ can enlighten us about the problem so full of life and history: be more confident and witness with consistency and courage that your faith!
